Bedard's Daily Briefing 04.02.19: Red Sox keep losing, Celtics nearly blow another lead taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I wonder if the area winter/spring teams are going to wake up after their little naps...

  • While you were sleeping, the Olde Towne Team continued it's losing ways to open up 2019 but dropping a 7-0 decision to the mighty Athletics.

  • They were blanked by someone named Aaron Brooks — and not the former Saints quarterback.

  • Yes, David Price gave up three bombs, but he was one pitch away from a decent start. This will get grouped in with the poor starts by his brethren, but this was just the offense not doing anything.

  • I'm sure there will be more talk about the Red Sox' travel factoring into this ... but they've lost four of five to two teams who opened their season in Japan. Nobody told the Red Sox they had to go to Arizona before playing in Seattle. That was the organization's choice thanks to their sleep nerds.

  • This now the 10th day the Red Sox have been on the road, thanks to that detour in Arizona. They won't be back in Boston for another six days.
