BSJ Weekend Briefing 03.16.18: Loaded weekend coming up taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

(Matthew Emmons/USA TODAY Sports)

Good morning!

A few quick, random thoughts while I think about how great this weekend is for sports...

  • I mean, you still have NFL free agency going on, and you know the Patriots are going to make a move or two.

  • The NCAA tournament is in full swing. Providence is up soon, and will be looking to match its in-state rivals over at URI with first-round victories. Then you have Rhody and Danny Hurley vs. Duke and Coach K on Saturday. Love it. And vaguely familiar.

  • Hockey East semifinals kickoff tonight with a couple of titanic matchups: BC vs. BU, Providence vs. Northeastern.

  • Tiger Woods is lurking at The Arnold.

  • The depleted Bruins (too bad) have a huge measuring stick game on Saturday night in Tampa.

  • Red Sox are starting to get tuned up for the season.

  • Are you not entertained?

  • Totally on board with Jason McCourty. Type of good, solid and reliable veteran you can always use. Have some questions about him in man coverage (caused Devin's move from corner to safety) but he'll have a role.

  • Adrian Clayborn would be an upgrade if they sign him, but we thought the same thing about Kony Ealy. We'll see.

  • Yes, some of the Patriots veterans are fed up with Bill Belichick — we've been talking about that for months. Still think it can be overcome but it makes for a weird dynamic around the team right now.
