Welcome to first and 10, a roundup of all the (mostly) Patriots-related news you need to start your day:
—Can’t tell you enough how awesome the comments section over on the Live Coverage page was on Wednesday and Thursday. It was a great one-stop spot for BSJ subscribers to ask questions (I was in and out throughout the day), catch up on the latest news and generally shoot the breeze with other subscribers about football. We’ll have the Friday page up later this morning, but make sure you go check it out.
—The more I think about it, the more I like the Jason McCourty move. A smart, dependable veteran. Like I wrote here, not overly flashy, but just really solid. Two more thoughts: one, I would have liked to have seen him play more man coverage as opposed to zone in the film I watched over the last year. Not saying he can’t play man. Just looked like there was a lack of man coverage film to really try and gauge his skills. It’ll be interesting to see how all that works, especially with a team in New England that plays more man, and with another corner in Stephon Gilmore whose strength is man coverage. And two, someone noted this in the comments on Thursday, there are a few similarities to Leigh Bodden in his game in that he’s a quality, sturdy corner who was brought in from the outside to try and stabilize the position a bit. There’s also the fact that both joined the Patriots a year after finishing 0-16.
--One more note on the McCourty move -- the Browns had told Jason of his release Thursday afternoon, but before the move was finalized, the Patriots called the Browns to execute the trade. Thus, the reason for the confusion on Thursday.
--Going to be sad to see Johnson Bademosi go. But we'll always have the flop.
But nothing beats Bademosi's flop! LMAOpic.twitter.com/D0EfVyJbuz

“Cleveland Takes Free Agent Visit to New England” is a bizarre headline. Safe to say New England won’t be reciprocating.
