FINAL: Bruins 6, Flyers 5 -Heinen's goal the difference in a near scare

That was a close one but crisis averted for the Bruins tonight as they defeat the Flyers 6-5 on Saturday night. Boston led 5-2 late in the third period but gave up two goals which made it 5-4. Danton Henein's goal wound up being the game winner as the Bruins gave up another goal to Joel Farabee (second of the game). 

Boston got off to a slow start as they were getting outshot 5-0 at one point in the game. However, the Bruins found their game later in the first period where they picked up the pace and got good looks at the net. Charlie Coyle tied the game at two in the second period and then Boston scored four goals in the third period and it looked as if the game was a wrap.

 Philadelphia went on to score two goals in the third which gave the crowd at TD Garden a scare of what they have seen too many times this season. 

It was clear to me that the Bruins defense became soft in the third, and failed to clear the puck and have defensive protection in front of the net. The Flyers exposed the Bruins weaknesses tonight that will become apparent in the playoffs. 

The Bruins will be back in action on Tuesday when they host the Ottawa Senators at 7 p.m.

PREGAME NOTES
The Bruins return to TD Garden to face the Philadelphia Flyers in the second of three meetings this season. Boston will honor James Van Riemsdyk before the game for playing in 1,000 career NHL games. Matt Grzelcyk will return to the Bruins lineup after not playing Thursday night due to an illness. Both Johnny Beecher and Andrew Peeke will stay in the lineup, while Kevin Shattenkirk and Jakub Lauko will be scratched tonight. 

Boston faces a Philadelphia team that has lost six of their last 10 games (4-5-1). The Flyers come off a 6-2 loss to Toronto in Philadelphia on Thursday night. The biggest problem for the Flyers lately has been getting off to slow starts. Philadelphia continues to own the third-best penalty kill in the NHL at 85.1%. On the flip side, Philadelphia has the worst power play in the league at 13.2%. Although, they have scored twice in the last  two consecutive games. The Flyers also have the most shorthanded goals in the league (15).
