FINAL: Flames 3, Bruins 2 (OT) - Coyle's two goals not enough as Bruins fall in sudden death
That was a tough one to swallow for the Bruins falling 3-2 in overtime to the Calgary Flames on Thursday night. Nazem Kadri scored with 1:04 left in overtime as he went low glove on a 3-on-1 that got past Linus Ullmark. This came after a great overtime period where both goalies were outstanding and Jacob Markstrom stopped shots from Charlie McAvoy, a left-pad save on Jesper Boqvist and Mason Lohrei hit the left post.

One highlight for the Bruins tonight was Charlie Coyle scoring both Boston goal to reach the 20-goal mark for the first time with Boston. "You want two points," Coyle said after the game. "We had chances to end the game. That's hockey. It's an inch or two there and it's a different story and we're feeling great about our game. I thought for the most part we played pretty solid. It stings a little bit when you don't capitalize and get two points but we worked our way and some things we can definitely look at and build on. It was right there," Coyle continued.
The Bruins got off to their typical slow start in the beginning as they got outshot 16-10, were getting out hustled and had bad puck control. It is hard to put a finger on why the Bruins time after time are always coming out slow. This will not survive in the playoffs and Boston will be looking at an early exit if this continues. The Bruins were down 1-0 thanks to an Oliver Kylington goal. Boston was lucky to tie the game up when Markstrom tried clearing the puck with Bruins all round him which led to the goal being wide open.

It didn't matter though because Boston gave the lead back :42 later when Martin Pospisil scored to make it 2-1. The Bruins got very careless and lazy again towards the end of the period which has been a constant theme this season.

Boston finally looked better in the last 10 minutes of the second period as they were finally getting shots off but Markstrom was really good. Coyle scored his second goal of the game to tie it up at two 2:33 into the third period.

The game went into overtime which is when Kadri scored to give Calgary the win. Boston still gets a point and has extended their road point streak to 11 games (7-0-4).
The Bruins will be back in action on Saturday night in Vancouver to face the Canucks at 7 p.m. ET.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- Bruins got off to another bad start getting outplayed and out hustled. You really wonder what Jim Montgomery has to do to spark a fire in the team right out of the gate. This is not sustainable come playoffs.
- Coyle reached the 20-goal mark for the first time with the Bruins after recording two goals tonight.
- Bruins still get a point and still have a chance for seven out of a possible eight points on this four-game Western Conference road trip which is still really good.
THREE STARS OF THE GAME:
3. Oliver Kylington (1 goal)
2. Charlie Coyle (2 goals)
1. Nazem Kadri (1 goal and an assist)

PREGAME NOTES
The Bruins continue their four-game western conference road trip Thursday night in Calgary to face the Flames at 9 p.m. ET. Boston is coming off a 6-5 overtime win in Edmonton Wednesday night. The Bruins fell to Calgary by a score of 4-1 the last time these two teams met at TD Garden back on February 6th.
The Bruins face a Calgary team that is coming off a 6-3 win over Winnipeg on Monday afternoon. The Flames enter tonight sitting three points behind St. Louis for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference. Boston will have to keep an eye on Nazem Kadri tonight as he paces Calgary with 48 points this season and played a big part in their win on Monday scoring twice and adding an assists for his second three-point game in February. Kadri has also recorded 11 points in his last 10 games versus teams holding down a playoff spot, a streak dating back to December 31st. The Flames have sruggled on the power play this year ranking 28th in the NHL at 14.4%. However, Calgary has a strong penalty kill which is fifth in the league at 82.7%.
