Here's a quick recap of this week's Patriots' transactions and their impact on their 2019 salary cap:
1. They signed tight-end Austin Seferian-Jenkins to a one-year deal. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Seferian-Jenkins received a $50,000 signing bonus, and can earn up to $40,000 in 46-man active roster bonuses. Since Seferian-Jenkins was active for only five games in 2018, only $12,500 ($2,500 times five) of the $40,000 will now count against the cap.
This deal qualifies for the Minimum Salary Benefit treatment so only $645,000 of his $805,000 salary will count against the cap. The other $160,000 will be treated as a benefit.
