Bedard's Daily Briefing 05.06.19: Another packed night as Bruins try to close, Celtics need a win taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I wonder if they could stagger these games a little better — all three games are starting at 7. I mean, come on...

  • Bruins are in Columbus tonight to close out the Blue Jackets. These games on the road are always a weird spot. The team leading the series seems to try for a while and if it's not going well, they pack it in and get ready for Game 7. But I think the Bruins are just starting to round into form, so I wouldn't be surprised if they finish off the Blue Jackets.

  • And John Tortorella might have given the Bruins the extra boost they needed.

  • Brad Marchand came off weird in his post-game presser the other night, like he's some deep thinker or something. You're a great hockey player and, at times, a dirty one. Just answer the questions.

  • Bruce Cassidy on the other hand, I just love that guy. You ask a question and he answers it. He's the same way to us as he is his players: straight and to the point, and I think that has a lot of benefits.

  • On the other side of the coin ... we're a long ways from that Game 1 blowout by the Celtics, huh?

  • But this is the NBA and one night doesn't carry over to the next, and these "big" series always seem to go seven games. Look for a nice bounce-back from the Celtics tonight.

  • The Red Sox might be starting their inevitable roll as they descend on Fenway South.

  • In case you ever wondered what kind of a difference an all-time coach and quarterback make, just look at the state of the Revolution. The Krafts' futbol team is in shambles ... we're a long way from the shine of the Patriots.

  • After a boring first 30 minutes, Thrones finally got back to what it does best in a compelling episode.

  • Billions ... this is a rough season. So disjointed and so many swings and misses. I still want to love the show, and there's still much of it that I like (mostly the actors and their performances) but ... the various storylines are fast and confusing. I miss the slower burns.
