New England offense sputters with another paltry effort: Stop me if you've heard this before, folks. We’ve railed a lot over the first two months of the season about the Revolution’s lack of offense, and for all this team’s problems, no answer for their issues seems to be coming. On a night where Montreal arrived in the Commonwealth 5 1/2 hours before kickoff — see below — and had less of the ball (43.6 percent) than New England, L’Impact scored three late goals in the final 14 minutes, all while the Revs managed to put no — that’s ZERO — shots on-target. NONE. Nadda. Zip. Zilch.
Shome scores first MLS goal, Jackson-Hamel scores brace off bench: The Revs had started to take control of the match, possession-wise, from about the hour mark, with the pitch tilting to The Fort. But on a 79th-minute free kick some 26 yards from goal, the tourists took advantage of a brief lapse in concentration by Revolution goalkeeper Cody Cropper — who had a good, solid game up until that point. Cropper had stopped the initial service, but the rebound saw Shamit Shome, who was playing in his 11th career MLS match, streak in from the vicinity of Sharon and pound the ball into the net. That was the 21-year-old’s first goal in MLS.
