BSJ Daily Briefing 11.01.18: David Price is staying, undefeated Bucks come to town, WS thoughts taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I wonder why anyone would think it's a good idea to throw full cans of beer at people 30 feet away...

  • The big news is David Price said he's not opting out of his contract and will be around for the next four years. Count me as a fan of this. Now that he's put behind his postseason/big game issues, he's playing with house money and I'm good with that and his "unique" elbow. I trust that more than Chris Sale's shoulder.

  • Ride Jaroslav Halak. Ride him. As opposed to last year with Doby — who the Bruins never really trusted — I think Bruce Cassidy will go more with Halak for a while.

  • But I'm more worried about the Bruins finding scoring options beyond the top line. At least Butch looks like he's starting to experiment. He's no dummy.

  • Big early-season matchup tonight with the Celtics hosting the ... undefeated ... Bucks. Really, undefeated? The C's are starting to round into form so I expect them to be up for this one.

  • I didn't get to finish this media story on F&M — thanks Felger — but I thought you might find it mildly interesting. First of all, the post-game scene at Dodger Stadium was a crapshow and unbefitting a crown jewel even for a major sport. And it inconvenienced the players as much as the media. Case in point, the post-game celebration on Sunday night. They let the media into the locker room — which I don't even think is necessary if done right — and it quickly got to the point, since the room was the size of an extra bedroom, that no one could move, especially the players that, you know, are trying to celebrate winning a world title. At one point, Chris Sale tried to kick the media out, which I don't blame him for. But then Ian Kinsler joined in ... and it jumped the shark.

  • Coolest scene was the Red Sox fans around the Boston dugout well after the game was over. They were chanting and cheering each player as they left the field and went in. That was fun to witness.
