BSJ Daily Briefing 10.31.18: Parade Day; Kyrie is back in Celtics win; Halak leads Bruins

Good morning! 

A few random thoughts while Boston gets ready for another parade. I'd wonder if it gets old at some point, but it really doesn't ...

• The Red Sox and their fans will cut loose today one more time and then we won't see many of them until Spring Training, which will be here before we know it.


• Who doesn't love a parade? Players get to bask in the adoration, and the fans — who invest a ton of time, energy and money in this team – get to cut loose for a while. Good stuff.


• Who's your pick for current Sox to pull a Napoli? There isn't a real good candidate — most of these guys are pretty straight-laced — but I'd have to say the craziest guy in the last two locker room celebrations I was in was probably Chris Sale, if you can believe it. Those guys who have been at it a while and finally win ... they have a tendency to just go nuts.


• How epic would it be if David Price took the mic today — in a t-shirt with his face on it over a playing card — saying he accomplished his mission by winning a title here, he's opting out and dropped the mic?


• Loved Sean McAdam's last couple of stories on the Red Sox. He wrote an epic column after the game, and then his 10 thoughts from yesterday were great. He's just so money in big moments on this team. It's why he's always been a must-read for me on the Red Sox for many years. I don't know, $3 a month to Sean on Red Sox all year (let alone all the other stuff you get on here) sounds like a good deal to me.


• So Kyrie Irving finally busted out last night in the Celtics' win and he gave a shout out to Tommy Heinsohn. I thought Irving was trolling the T-Man but it sure didn't sound like it when Irving expounded on his thoughts after the game.

• Love how honest and self-aware Irving is. It's pretty refreshing.


• Bruins won in Carolina and there were a couple of interesting developments. For one, Jaroslav Halak played his ass off again and looks to easily be the Bruins' best goaltender right now. And it appears Bruce Cassidy is going to ride that for a while. Also, he finally split up the top line. If the Bruins are going to do anything this season except get run over by Tampa or Toronto in the first or second round, they have to have a legit second line. Time to start figuring that out.
