Poor start puts New England in 3-0 halftime hole: Did I say poor? I meant pathetic. And that’s exactly what Revs gaffer Brad Friedel — in his halftime interview — called the first 45 minutes by his side, which played against a primarily second-choice side in host Real Salt Lake. A blistering counterattack saw Nick Besler open the scoring three minutes in, and RSL doubled the lead by the quarter-hour mark thanks to Sebastian Saucedo’s goal with acres of space near the top of the box. 15 minutes later, it was rookie Corey Baird who made it three-nil. Oh, and RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando stopped a Teal Bunbury penalty, and it was a brilliant save by the 39-year-old.

- Real Salt Lake’s second-choice players are so much better than New England’s first-choice squad. There’s a reason why RSL are in the playoff positions and the Revolution are not.
- If there’s anyone who could qualify for an up, but barely, it was Segbers. He’ll more than likely get a starting nod next Sunday — like we said should have happened after the Atlanta game.
Friedel: “A lot of the players were obviously on their vacations.” Said RSL simply outworked and outran the #NERevs tonight.
