BSJ Daily Briefing 01.16.18: Jaguars week starts, Patriots assistants on move

Some random thoughts while I figure out who's going to be left on the Patriots' coaching staff:

• Just wanted to give you a little jolt this morning. Figure Jaguars team president Tom Coughlin with one of his two Lombardi trophies would do that. ;)


• Man, old friend Gregg Doyel really hates the Josh McDaniels hiring. I know Gregg is really popular around here.


• So, apparently, McDaniels (Colts) and Matt Patricia (Lions), are as good as gone. And this will start a panic among Patriots fans, which is really more about being bored counting six Lombardi trophies.


• Just. Stop. As long as Bill Belichick and Tom Brady are here, it will be fine. In Bill We Trust applies to the coaching staff (even more) as well as the players. Just because Josh and Matt were the guys here doesn't mean they're the only ones capable of doing the job.


• Tom's getting upset....

• In the end, the Titans made the right choice in firing Mike Mularkey. Wrote about it a lot last week, but that team was stuck in the 1990s as far as scheme. And then Mularkey walked out there on Monday and said everything was awesome and Marcus Mariota had made good progress .... that sealed his fate. Props to Jon Robinson for having the guts to do what needed to be done.


• Think Tyler Seguin likes killing Cam Neely every time he plays the Bruins?


• Another nice victory for Boston College hoops: Eagles 81, No. 23 Florida State 75.
