BSJ Daily Briefing 10.14.17: Spotlight on the Bruins taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

(Ron Chenoy/USA TODAY Sports)

Good (late weekend) morning!

The Red Sox have barely started the search for their manager (don't believe any of the #fakenews out of Minnesota), the Patriots face the rebuilding Jets on Sunday and the Celtics don't start until Tuesday night. That means the Bruins have the spotlight tonight in the desert, where Joe McDonald is there to capture all the action (Chris Price and I will be driving to New Jersey, so keep McDonald in line).

Hey Bruins, don't screw it up.

Tuukka Rask isn't in net, which might be a good thing the way he's played to this point. And I don't want to hear any excuses about how Patrice Bergeron is hurt or whatever. You just got your rear ends kicked in back-to-back games by the worst team in the league last season (Colorado). All that happy talk in the preseason about the promising youngsters on this team doesn't mean anything if you don't actually play moderately well (sorry JoeyMac).

Here's the third-worst team: do something tonight. Like, I don't know, keep the puck in the offensive zone. Cover in the defensive zone. Stop pucks once in a while. Bruins have been a disjointed mess to this point, and it's up to Bruce Cassidy to clean it up.

The Bruins always have trouble garnering attention before there's snow on the ground. But if they don't start to pick it up soon, they are running the risk of an entire region tuning them out by Thanksgiving. They're already waaaay down the totem pole behind the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics. Give us a reason to tune in. Please.

Who's going to New Jersey?

We have a lot of BSJ members and fans in the NY/NJ Metro area (it's our second home). Anyone having a tailgate that Chris Price and I could stop by? We'd love to pop in and say hi. Let us know.

A few reminders:

And away we go...
