BSJ Daily Briefing 10.11.17: About that show... taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

(Reinhold Matay/USA TODAY Sports)

So, yeah, the final 10 minutes of my weekly appearance on Felger & Mazz did not go well on Tuesday.

You can hear it here:

Since I'm open about everything that I can be here, I figured I owed you an explanation but I don't want to make a big deal out of it.

I was most upset that the show brought to light, without asking me, a feature of this site that I've gone out of my way of not to publicize. Anybody who reads this space knows I've tried to keep it quiet; I've even told people on Twitter that we keep it on down low. Why? Because the NFL is worst and most punitive league when it comes to that stuff (just a few weeks ago, good friend Aaron Nagler was suspended from Twitter) and I wanted to stay off their radar as long as I can. The way I figure it, as long as I'm not parading it around or actively trying to make money off it, they'll let it slide. Even if F&M asked me if they could do a positive segment about the videos, I would have told them I'd rather not.

This wasn't about me, it was about the site and our members — and that's always the focus here at BSJ. I'm trying to bring you as much value to your membership as I can, and this was part of it (even it's boring to some, which is fine by me).

A little of my anger also had to do with them setting me up during the break before the bit — I was under the impression they wanted to discuss that play, I prepared to do that, and I started to — and it turned out the joke was on me. I also didn't appreciate being made fun of for that long, and I was only in for an hour — there was more to talk about with the Patriots. Time to get those BSJ podcasts ramped up. You guys know I don't take myself too seriously. I'm the first one to poke fun at myself (there are no shortage of areas with me), and the show does it with the Dunkin spots, Bob's Big Boy and The Final Word every week, among others. I've never said a word, and I think it's pretty funny. Plus, if the biggest show in Boston makes fun of you every week, you must be doing something right.

Mike, Tony, Murray, James Stewart, Billy Lanni, Mike Thomas and the whole crew over at SportsHub have always been terrific to me and are great to work with (sure, there are moments). I know it wasn't malicious. They tried something, it didn't work on many levels, but that will happen. I'm still a little pissed, but I'll be back. I didn't mean to insinuate that I wouldn't be, I was just thrown for a loop in the moment and didn't know what to say.

So that's it, and it's largely over. Moving along...

A few reminders:

And away we go...
