For all of the talk regarding Boston’s previous conquests against Carolina in the postseason — and the B’s brutal showing against the Canes during the 2021-22 regular season — it sure seems like both teams are embracing a clean slate for this first-round matchup. 

"You learn from your past. These guys that have been here before, that's what's driving them and has all year," Rod Brind'Amour said. "Does it translate into the way we play in the playoffs? I don't know, but it's the fuel that's certainly there. Does it make the difference? We'll find out." 

While the Bruins are a battle-tested team in the postseason, Bruce Cassidy downplayed that advantage, especially considering that Carolina is anchored by a core that has also been in the midst of some impressive postseason runs over the last few years. 

"Well, I think it helps when you have adversity to know that that's going to come, you've got to play through it, focus on the next shift or next game, whatever it is," said Cassidy. "But I think Carolina has some now, has built that over the years, maybe not the first go around we played them, but they've been right there every year now for three or four years. So, is it an advantage that we have a few older guys in there that have won? I'd say marginally.  "I'm sure their leadership group gets them through their tough times, you can tell by the way they've played. So, we'll take that that edge if there is in fact one. But at the end of the day, I don't think it's going to be a huge determining factor in this series."

Frederik Andersen, a potential Vezina Trophy candidate, hasn't played since exiting a contest against Colorado on April 16 with an undisclosed injury and isn’t cleared for Game 1. Antti Raanta will start in net for Carolina.

Linus Ullmark will get the start for Boston, with no other lineup changes for the B’s.
