Final: Red Sox 6, Yankees 2 - Sox bullpen shuts down Yankees lineup
Who would have thought that Kaleb Ort as a spot-starter and a bullpen game would hold the Yankees offense at bay? Ort who was good enough in the game, he tossed 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits, a two-run homer to Gleyber Torres in the first and walked one while striking out four. After that, the Sox bullpen comprised of Chris Murphy, Nick Pivetta and Chris Martin kept the Yanks bats quiet. The trio only surrendered two hits, while striking out seven.

WHAT'S UP
George Constanza from Seinfeld said it perfectly, “Greetings, people. Greetings. Greetings and salutations. What a beautiful day for a ball game. Let's play two!” Happy Father's Day from Fenway Park, the Red Sox and Yankees are set to play a day/night doubleheader, as part of a makeup game from Saturday night's rain out. ... Boston opened the series on Friday and were led by the bat of Justin Turner (3-for-5) who hit two home runs, including a grand slam and had six RBI. ... The Red Sox scored 13 runs on 13 hits in the first 4 innings last night, including a six-run, six-hit 3rd inning in the 15-5 win over the Yankees.
WHO’S HOT
Turner had his 15th career multi-HR game Friday night, (previous: 9/11/22 at SD) and he tied career highs in RBI and runs scored (3), including his 3rd career grand slam. It was his second career six RBI game. He also now has a seven-game hitting streak that he will look to extend on Sunday.
Masataka Yoshida opened the series against the Yanks with four hits (4-for-4), including two doubles, a run and three RBI. It was his first career four-hit game in the big leagues. In this weekend's MLB Notebook, Cora talks about how he now has a "blue print" on how to handle Yoshida when it comes to time off.
Alex Verdugo has a seven-game hitting streak, it’s a season high for the Sox outfielder. During this current streak, he’s 11-for-31 with three doubles and two RBI. Verdugo now ranks tied for fourth in Major League Baseball with 22 doubles.
