Final: Red Sox 5, Rangers 2
After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, the Red Sox rebounded with four runs of their own and added another in the second, all of which were good enough for a 5-2 victory of the Texas Rangers. The victory completed a sweep of the Rangers and was the Red Sox' fifth win in a row.
Trevor Story erased the early Texas lead with a three-run homer in the first. Xander Bogaerts had run-scoring hits in each of the first two innings.
Newcomer Triston Casas, making his major league debut, had an infield hit in four trips to the plate.
Josh Winckowski, a last-minute fill-in starter, went four innings and four relievers pitched in to handle the rest.
