FINAL: Mets 7, Red Sox 2 - Boston's Offense Continues to Slump in Fourth-Straight Loss
The Red Sox fell to the New York Mets 7-2 Tuesday night at Citi Field. Boston has now lost their fourth-straight game and has scored only five runs in the past 36 innings. Boston also struck out 15 times versus New York tonight.
Kutter Crawford pitched well tonight going six innings striking out six, walking one and allowing only two hits. The only run Crawford gave up was a two-run shot to Fransisco Lindor that gave the Mets a 2-0 lead. Once again, the starting pitching was great but the hitting did not deliver.

The Red Sox got on the board in the fifth inning when Nick Sogard hit a bloop single into centerfield scoring Masataka Yoshida making it 2-1.
The Mets got their first insurance run of the game when Mark Vientos hit a two-run homer off Justin Slaten, making it 3-1 New York.

The biggest problem came in the eighth inning where outside of a sac fly by Enmanuel Valdez scoring Jarren Duran, Boston failed to get anything else. The Red Sox had the bases loaded but Yoshida hit into a double play to end the top half of the eighth inning. The Mets added four runs in the bottom half of the eighth off of Chris Martin who did not have it tonight. Lindor hit an RBI double that scored Jeff McNeil which made it 4-2.
