Final: Angels 3, Red Sox 2 (F/10) - Red Sox back under .500 after loss in extras
The Red Sox have now lost four straight games in a frustrating 3-2 extra innings loss against the Angels.
Garrett Crochet pitched tonight for Boston, and he had another gem on the mound throwing seven scoreless innings while striking out 10 Angel batters.
Facing off against a left handed starter, Boston had a hard time producing runs. Their only run in regular innings came in the 3rd when Nate Eaton drove home Marcelo Mayer on a sac fly to right field. Mayer was the main catalyst of the inning as he got on base with a triple.
After Crochet exited the game after the 7th inning, the Red Sox needed just six outs from their bullpen to come away with the win. However, that didn't happen. Greg Weissert was the first reliever to come into the game for Boston, and he allowed a solo home run to Christian Moore who tied the game.

After a scoreless outing from Aroldis Chapman in the 9th inning, the game was sent into extra inning.
In the 10th inning, Mayer gave the Red Sox the lead as he drove in the ghost runner on the first pitch of the inning. Mayer became the most notable bat in Boston's lineup as the rookie playing in his first game at second base recorded three hits against left handed pitchers on the night.
Despite having the lead, the Red Sox yet again couldn't come away with the win. Justin Wilson came in to get the save, but he allowed another home run to Moore who walked it off for the Angels.

This was another frustrating one run game for the Red Sox. Crochet gave them another scoreless outing, and Boston gave him the opposite of support. The two guys Alex Cora has relied on for the majority of this season have been struggling as of lately, and it has been a reason for this four game losing streak.
The Red Sox will wrap up their west coast road trip tomorrow at 4:05 p.m.
