Final: Predators 4, Bruins 0 - Bruins lose final game of road trip getting shut out against Nashville
The Boston Bruins get shut out by the Nashville Predators in the final game of their west coach trip. Despite the line changes, Boston's top 6 forwards weren't able to generate any offense. The Bruins managed to record over 30 shots on net in the game, but star goalie Juuse Saros stopped every chance including a couple a breakaways and multiple power play opportunities from Boston. Penalties became a huge issue for Boston throughout this game. Max Jones, playing on the second line despite being a frequent scratch, received two penalties in the game. Jones' second penalty resulted in the first goal for Nashville in the 1st period, as Ryan O'Reilly picked up the goal on the man advantage. In the 2nd period, Boston found themselves on a late period penalty kill, this time for 4 minutes. Charlie McAvoy received a high sticking double minor, and seconds after his penalty expired, Nashville would get their second goal off a second-chance opportunity in from of the net from Thomas Novak. The Bruins had opportunities to score within the first two periods but simply weren't able to keep the offense up for a consistent time. Boston's best offensive chance came at the beginning of the 3rd period, but strong saves from Saros made it hard for the Bruins to make any form of comeback. Gustav Nyquist scored the third goal of the game off an odd man rush, and minutes later Luke Evangelista scored an empty net goal that sealed Nashville's first win of the season. A frustrating game to watch for Bruins fans.
The Bruins will return to Boston on Thursday taking on the Dallas Stars. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m.
