The Bruins have lost their fifth game in a row losing to the New York Islanders 2-1. Despite the Bruins outshooting their opponent by 10+ shots, they weren't able to get a goal through the first two periods of the game.

In the first period, the Bruins performed as the better team. They executed clean breakouts and outshot the Islanders 16-6 in those 20 minutes. However, the Islanders got on the board first with Alexander Romanov scoring after finishing his penalty.

Much of the same happened in the second period for the Bruins. Boston didn't generate many shots compared to the first period, but they still had quality scoring chances against Sorokin. The Islanders again scored the only goal of the period with a rebound goal from Kyle Palmieri.

Down two goals going into the third period, the Bruins didn't play with much urgency in the first 10 minutes. Despite this, David Pastrnak sent a puck to the net which got past Sorokin and cut New York's lead 2-1. This was a milestone goal for Boston's superstar forward who notched his 800th career point in the NHL.

The Bruins made one last push into the offensive zone with Jeremy Swayman pulled, but it wasn't enough as the Islanders came away with the victory.

Boston will play their next game on Saturday facing off against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Puck drop in Pittsburgh will be at 3:00 p.m.
