PREGAME NOTES

The Bruins will get a major lift on the blue line Thursday, as Charlie McAvoy will return to the lineup after missing the first 13 games of the season while recovering from shoulder surgery. McAvoy will skate with his BU teammate in Matt Grzelcyk, while Hampus Lindholm will remain with Connor Clifton.

"There'll be some mixing and matching," Jim Montgomery said of McAvoy's spot on the D corps. "He is going to start the game with Grzelcyk, though. We really like the Lindholm-Clifton pairing and again, we're very lucky that we can put Carlo in a situation where he can pair up with Zboril and we can have three really good pairings."

While Grzelcyk and McAvoy's play together has been well-documented, the Lindholm-Clifton duo has been stellar in their limited ice time so far in 2022 — with Boston outscoring opponents, 4-0, in their 63:52 of 5v5 ice time together.

No lineup changes up front for Boston, other than Nick Foligno and Trent Frederic swapping spots on the third and fourth lines. Linus Ullmark will get the start in net.

The Bruins will be awaiting word about the status of Mike Reilly at 2 p.m., with teams having until then to claim him on waivers. If not team claims Reilly, he will report to Providence.

Jonathan Huberdeau was a limited participant at the Flames' morning skate after the forward missed a 3-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. His status for tonight’s game is TBD.

The Flames are currently in the midst of an 0-4-2 slump. Five of Calgary's last six losses were decided by one goal, two in overtime.

Dan Vladar is expected to get the start in net for the visitors on Thursday.
