PREGAME NOTES
Jeremy Swayman will get the start in net for the Bruins, who will be looking to carry over some momentum after beating the Capitals, 5-2, in their season opener on Wednesday.
After exiting Wednesday’s win due to an upper-body injury, Jake DeBrusk will not play Saturday, but Jim Montgomery doesn’t believe the winger will be out long-term. "He's not eligible to play [Saturday], but we think he's gonna be back a lot sooner than when it originally happened, so that's good news," Montgomery said of DeBrusk.
With DeBrusk sidelined, Craig Smith will shift up to play the right wing alongside Taylor Hall and Patrice Bergeron. A.J. Greer will move over to RW on Charlie Coyle’s line, which will open up a spot for Trent Frederic to make his season debut as 3LW.
Anton Stralman is still not eligible for game action as both he and the team work through visa issues.
Matt Grzelcyk will not play on Saturday, but the B’s blueliner is getting closer and closer to a return. “I think he's getting closer every day," Montgomery said of Grzelcyk. "It's just a timing issue and getting used to some practice reps so that he's used to the timing of his breakouts, joining the play, transition to offense, just things that while you're out your brain's not wired that way, it's getting that muscle memory back in his game. I'd be shocked if he didn't play by the end of next weekend."
