The Sox have won three of the last four starts that Paxton has made and are 4-2 in his last six starts.
Triston Casas will bat in the cleanup spot riding a six-game hitting streak (11-for-20). The 23-year-old rookie leads the majors in fWAR (1.3), seven homers, OBP (.568), slugging percentage (1.139), OPS (1.707) and wRC+ (342). Casas hit his 16th homer of the season last night in the fifth inning off Giants’ hurler Logan Webb.
Adam Duvall will bat behind Casas owning a four-game hitting streak. The 34-year-old had two doubles in the Sox win on Friday night. Duvall has 28 RBI coming into Saturday, 14 of those runs drive in have come with two outs.
PRE-GAME NOTES
The Red Sox made a roster move prior to the game activating newly acquired right-handed reliever Mauricio Llovera and optioning lefty Joe Jacques to Triple-A Worcester.
Alex Cora told reporters pre-game that he expects to use Llovera in middle relief ahead of Josh Winckowski, John Schreiber, Chris Martin and Kenley Jansen.
“We’ll see where we’re at late in the game,” Cora said. “Good sinker, good slider. We’ll make sure he gets his feet wet here. We needed a righty and we got one. We feel like if he can execute what we want, he’s going to be able to get people out.”
