FOXBOROUGH - Practice No. 13 - the final public session of 2025, is in the books. Let's run down all you need to know: all the stats, 3 up/down, 1-on-1s, and odds and ends:
THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
Not a good day for Maye, first-team offense in the red zone: Today's team periods were all in the red zone, and it was not kind to Drake Maye and the rest of his unit. Maye was just 4 of 12 with a TD to Kayshon Boutte (borderline), a fumbled shotgun snap (Garrett Bradbury was told it hit the RB's leg), a scramble a drop of a TD by Stefon Diggs on the final play of practice when it was snapped with 1 second on the clock.
On the first drive, starting from the 18, Maye was nearly picked off by Craig Woodson, who later admitted it hit the ground, as there was some confusion with Boutte. There was worse confusion on the next play when TreVeyon Henderson, with the music blaring, had no idea what Maye was checking to, and he was taken down 4 yards deep by Harold Landry. The second series featured miscommunication with Kyle Williams. The third series, starting at the 9, saw Maye throw incomplete three straight times (pass breakups by Marcus Jones and Carlton Davis), before connecting with Boutte near the goal line, and he reached out and broke the goal line against Jones.
The final drive started at the 45 with 1:05 on the clock and one timeout. Maye connected with Pop Douglas on first down, but it appeared K'Lavon Chaison beat Will Campbell for a sack. Completions to Boutte and Douglas (short to pick up 2nd and 2) around a Maye scramble put them in goal to go with 14 seconds left. Maye threw high to Mack Hollins, Jones knocked away a good pass to Hollins, and then Diggs dropped the final play.
Meanwhile, Josh Dobbs was 8 of 11 with two touchdowns to Mack Hollins and Efton Chism, and a two-point conversion to TE Cole Fotheringham.
Lineup changes after first preseason game: Usually the first practice after a preseason game can reveal a few things. Among the noticeable changes was Kyle Dugger playing almost exclusively on the second unit behind Craig Woodson. Dugger had a few rough reps in the game.
Also: Cole Strange was exclusively at RG. There was no center rotation; Bradbury, after a strong game, was the starting center throughout. Before leaving with an injury, Marcus Bryant was still flipping sides with Demontrey Jacobs. Vederian Lowe took over at LT for Bryant. Caeden Wallace was back at back up LG.
Breaking news ... Carlton Davis took part in a non-walkthrough practice, and had a pass breakup. When Morgan Moses got rest, Demontrey Jacobs was the RT.
Marte Mapu and DJ James left with injuries.
Mekhi Butler, who had a strong game, got some reps in place of Wallace at LG.
Minnesota attendance: Vrabel said CB Christian Gonzalez and WR Ja'Lynn Polk are among those not expected to practice against the Vikings on Wednesday and Thursday.
NEWS UPDATE
The Patriots announced today the signing of first-year RB Deneric Prince and rookie DE Jereme Robinson (he's the No. 55 Unknown Dude down in 1-on-1s)
The Patriots released rookie S Josh Minkins and placed rookie RB Lan Larison on injured reserve.
Prince, 25, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023 out of Tulsa. The 6-foot, 211-pounder, spent the majority of his rookie season on the practice squad but was elevated to the active roster for two games. After being released by Kansas City following training camp in 2024, Prince spent the year on the Miami Dolphins practice squad. He played with the Memphis Showboats of the UFL this past spring.
Robinson, 25, was signed by the Chicago Bears as a rookie free agent out of Kansas on May 8, 2025. The 6-foot-3, 263-pounder, was released by Chicago on July 22, 2025. Robinson played in 53 games during his college career at Kansas and finished with 98 total tackles and 14 sacks.
Too bad about Larison. He showed well the other night, and in camp, before breaking his foot. He was Rex Burkhead Jr., and he had a spot on my 53 that will now be freed up.

FOUR UP
WR Efton Chism: Followed up his strong game with a few catches, including a leaping TD.
QB Josh Dobbs: He had no problem shredding the second defense.
LT Will Campbell: 2-0 against Keion White today.
DE Bradyn Swinson: Went 3-0 today.
THREE DOWN
QB Drake Maye: Wasn't great in the scrimmage, and today was a mess - including with some operations. He's in charge.
WR Stefon Diggs: I don't know if it's by design, but some days he just seems to go through the motions. This was one of those days.
DT Jahavree Ritzie: Was 0-2 with two decisive losses today. Yikes.
OT Demontrey Jacobs: 0-3 in 1-on-1s.
ODDS AND ENDS
- Andy Borregales had his first miss in some time, wide left from 39. Parker Romo was 4 of 4.
- Today was the final practice open to the public, and the crowd was large and into it. This camp was a good look for Patriots fans. The passion is back.
- There are now lines to take pictures at the Brady statue.
