In an appearance on Chris Long's 'Green Light' podcast, Mike Vrabel made his first public comments about the Patriots signing of wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
"Yeah, just trying to make sure we're supporting Drake (Maye) and supporting the football team," he said. "And again, this is a highly competitive, confident receiver that's produced throughout his career and multiple ways, play style. He's got a play strength to him that you see that he can play physical, you know, route craft … good at the catch point, has been good in the red zone. There's a play style to him that I've always appreciated and that we want to continue to enhance and make sure that he's doing things to help us.
While Diggs has caused some headaches during stops in Minnesota and Buffalo, Vrabel has" some experience with temperamental receivers (A.J. Brown, Julio Jones, Deandre Hopkins) and, thus far, likes what he's seen and heard in their brief interactions (this is the easy part).
"It's just his conversation, his demeanor, his attitude, and his presence have been, you know, great through our conversation. And hopefully, we can continue to add good players."
Prior to his injury, Diggs was 7th in the NFL in receptions (47). He did that in eight games, albeit playing inside of Nico Collins, who was the best receiver in football the first month of the season before he got hurt.
