Rhamondre Stevenson said recently that his expected contract extension with the Patriots was close.
He wasn't lying.
According to multiple reports, Stevenson received a four-year extension through 2028 on a deal that averages $9 million per season, includes $17 million guaranteed and has a max value of $48 million.
This is the full incentive package for Rhamondre Stevenson, broken down by year and incentive. It begins in 2025 and can give Stevenson’s extension a max value of $48M. https://t.co/90qpi4AHwn pic.twitter.com/cX3kFE17L9

Stevenson's deal is the latest in a long line of extensions handed out by Eliot Wolf this offseason since taking over personnel from Bill Belichick:
OL Mike Onwenu (3 years, $57M)
S Kyle Dugger (4 years, $58M)
TE Hunter Henry (3 years, $27M)
RB Rhamondre Stevenson (4 years, $36M)
WR Kendrick Bourne (3 years, $19.5M)
LB Anfernee Jennings (3 years, $12M)
BEDARD'S THOUGHTS
Even though I'm not a fan of paying running backs, I thought Stevenson was worth it as long as it didn't break the bank. Based on the RB chart at OverTheCap, I was comfortable paying Stevenson between $8 million and $10 million — but not more than that.
I think the Patriots did well on the value and Stevenson deserves it. He's been fairly durable. He's added the pass game to his repertoire. He trimmed down in the offseason and looked quicker in practices. They didn't draft a back, and only signed Antonio Gibson in the offseason. So you figured something would get done with Stevenson.
He's only 26, so there isn't much of a threat for him to lose a step anytime soon.
With $17 million guaranteed, it's basically a two-year deal worth $8.5 million and then the Patriots can get out of it if they desire.
Seems fair and smart.
Now the Patriots just have to, you know, play a lick of offense.
