The Bruins fell to the Flyers, 4-3 in a shootout, at TD Garden on Friday as the preseason rolls on. David Pastrnak scored twice, while Danton Heinen cashed in as well. Linus Ullmark turned away 33 of 36 shots he faced.

Here are three takeaways that I may or may not regret later...

Looks like Pastrnak will pick up where he left off

Pastrnak was among a number of veterans – himself, Ullmark, Brad Marchand, Pavel Zacha, Charlie McAvoy, Hampus Lindholm and Kevin Shattenkirk – trying to shake off the rust against Philadelphia.

The Flyers benefitted from a broken play between Shattenkirk, Zacha and Pastrnak after a pass intended for Zacha banked off Pastrnak right to Joel Farabee, who walked in and opened the scoring.

But No. 88 wasted no time making up for it, though, coming up with a power play equalizer later in the first. Rather than winding up for a one-time blast on the flank, Pastrnak collected the puck, changed the shooting angle and used Helge Grans as a screen to pick the top-right corner.

In the second, Pastrnak was the beneficiary of a broken play for Farabee and the Flyers, picking off a drop-pass from Farabee and capitalizing after getting in alone on Samuel Ersson. It almost looked too easy for Pastrnak on that goal.

He finished the night with three individual scoring chances, per Natural Stat Trick.

There were some lapses, but like most of the vets, Pastrnak's first preseason action was more for getting his legs under him. Getting some production early on could bode well for the start of the season, too.

“Physically, it’s good. It’s mentally and position-wise, you feel a little lost and you’re trying to get the brain and legs going at the same time after two month of just skating up and down the ice,” Pastrnak said. “The first game’s always, always like that. So, personally, I’m happy that that’s behind me.”
