New England Patriots offensive tackle Riley Reiff (74), offensive lineman Kody Russey (66), offensive lineman Cole Strange (69) and center David Andrews (60) warm up during New England Patriots Minicamp on June 13, 2023, at the Patriots Practice Facility at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

There should still be some 1-on-1 reps still out there with a few more (closed to the public) Foxborough practices coming up, and then joint practices against the Packers and Titans, but we wanted to give you a status report heading into tonight's preseason opener.

Here you'll find the 1-on-1 records to this point, and then quickie thoughts on each of the big boys.

One side note: NFL training camps stink now. Five years ago. Trent Brown got 20 reps in camp (and was 14-2-4). The leader this year was Sidy Sow with 10 ... and Brown has zero. This is not a criticism of the Patriots' camp, it's just the state of NFL camps today. It's sad and makes for bad football.

Chasen Hines: The 2022 draft pick had a wasted year due to injury and got off to a very slow start this year, but he's really started to come on. He hasn't seen a dramatic change in his depth chart status entering the preseason — he'll probably be a reserve tonight — but that could change with a good showing. Pad level has improved, good low build.

David Andrews: Man, I couldn't love the way this guy plays any more. He's just so good. And when he's not out there, the difference is huge. The Patriots may have entertained the thought of Jake Andrews making the veteran expendable as soon as this year, but I don't see that happening anymore.

James Ferentz: Three years ago, I thought he was lucky to be in the league. He's been very good the past couple of camps and is a valuable interior guy. Perfect on the practice squad but I could see someone poaching him. Not as good as Ted Karras, but pretty similar.

Riley Reiff: Has showed better in 1-on-1st than on the field, but I do think he's improved with more reps. Good build and great technique, but the feet are slow.

Sidy Sow: You'll notice a theme with the draft picks ... they're just inconsistent. Sow is a better power blocker than pass protector, which is a little strange for a rookie. But he was a guard in college. Looks similar to Marcus Cannon with a little more upside. He's a ways off though.

Conor McDermott: Technique is good, but the feet are reaaaaalllly slow.

Atonio Mafi: The best of the rookies overall, he's very much a work in progress just a few years removed from playing DT. Looks like a smaller Mike Onwenu. If he starts to make rapid progress, he could give the team some interesting choices (like Mike Onwenu to RT).

Jake Andrews: He has some reps where he is awesome and looks the part of a starting center. But more often than not, he gets overpowered by the big boys. He's going to need at least another year.

Andrew Stueber: Just isn't there with speed or strength. Hard to see him hanging on this roster.

Kody Russey: Next couple of weeks are big for him. Very inconsistent. Smart and tough, but the physical skills are lacking.

Bill Murray: Started hot but quickly dropped off when the pads went on. Like a lot about him but seems like another year of development on the practice squad.

Davon Godchaux: He's beating the young pups with power. They have no chance.

Daniel Ekuale: He's Adam Butler 2.0 but probably not quite as good. Valuable as an interior rusher. Real decision between keeping Ekuale and just letting Keion White do it.

Keion White: Really nice power but not a ton of speed and needs to work on counter moves. A lot of his wins are against subpar competition.

Christian Barmore: His wins are unbelievably impressive (leads team with 2 decisive wins) but he's still too inconsistent. Patriots need him dominating in Year 3. Time is ticking.

Ronnie Perkins: He's really improved his pass rush game and reminds a little bit of Josh Uche's big leap. But it appeared he got hurt again.

Josh Uche: He's still all speed. If you get your hands on him, he's pretty much shut down.

Justus Tavai: Try-hard guy who looks outclassed vs. starters.

Sam Roberts: Love his length and power. Little speed.

Jeremiah Pharms: Wins on effort when he does.

Deatrich Wise: Appears to be working on some things. Some days he dominates. Others he's blocked easily. Think that's by his design as he works on moves.

DaMarcus Mitchell: Hasn't popped yet. No counter moves.

Anfernee Jennings: He's really good in team drills but lack of speed and counter moves shows in these drills.

Mack Wilson: Yup, he's been throwing himself out there.

Lawrence Guy: Pass rush is no longer in his repertoire.

Carl Davis: The two-gap king is just a run stuffer.

Matthew Judon: When he decided to take a rep, it was very impressive. The best player on this defense.

Chris Board: Yes, he took a rep and it looked like weight class mismatch, which it was.
