Even with a few hours to reflect on the debacle that was the Patriots' 33-14 home loss to the Bears — and the quarterback mess the team currently finds itself in — Bill Belichick declined to name a healthy Mac Jones as the starter going forward.
"Again, that's a hypothetical question. So let's see, you know, where that is and what that is," he said.
Belichick is not worried about Jones' confidence in regard to the crowd chanting.
"I think Mac has plenty of confidence," he said.
"I really can't control that. Just trying to coach a football team and obviously I've got a lot of work to do there. So I'm gonna focus on that."
Belichick was asked if splitting the reps and job was tenable going forward.
"Yeah, well, it will depend on what the situation was," he said. "That wasn't the situation last week. We'll see what it is this week. I don't know.
"I always try to do what we feel is best for the team, didn't work out on the final score but those decisions are always made based on the team and you know, to a degree, the individual player's situation, whatever that might be."
