The Celtics made Purdue guard Carsen Edwards the No. 33 overall pick of the NBA Draft, a pick they acquired from the Sixers after trading down from No. 20 (for No. 24 and 33) earlier in the evening.
Edwards, 21, is a 6-foot-1 guard that was regarded as one of the best scorers in the Big Ten last year. He led the league by averaging 23.4 points per game and has shown a very high level of aggression with his outside shot at the college level, taking over 50 percent of his shots from 3-point range during his Junior season. He broke out on a national level during the NCAA Tournament when he dropped 42 points in two games for Purdue on their way to a Final Four berth after bowing out to Virginia. His size, defense and scoring efficiency will stand out as concerns on the next level but he will pack a scoring punch when he gets his chance at the next level.
