PREGAME NOTES

The Bruins’ top-six unit is set to get a major lift on Thursday night, as Craig Smith is expected to slot back into the lineup after missing Game 2 due to a lower-body injury. Smith will slot back on the second line, while Karson Kuhlman will draw out of the lineup. Jake DeBrusk will bump back down to the third line next to Charlie Coyle and Nick Ritchie. 

While Smith is expected back in the lineup, the Bruins will have to wait a bit longer for Kevan Miller — with the rugged defenseman ruled out for Games 3 and 4 down at Nassau Coliseum. 

No expected changes to the Islanders’ lineup following their Game 2 victory at TD Garden, with Semyon Varlamov expected in net once again. Oliver Wahlstrom is expected to miss his fourth straight game.
