Marcus Smart was named to the All-Defensive First Team for the second consecutive season in a league announcement on Tuesday evening.

Smart ranked second among all guard voters, earning himself a spot in the NBA’s best defensive five alongside Ben Simmons, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Rudy Gobert and Anthony Davis.

Smart was one of four guards to post at least 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game during the 2019-20 season. He becomes the second Celtic player to receive All-Defensive First Team honors in consecutive years since Kevin Garnett in 2008 and 2009.

Jayson Tatum (20 votes) and Jaylen Brown (2 votes) were the only other Celtics to receive votes for forward and guard respectively.

A closer look at both teams.
