Good afternoon!
A few random thoughts while I wonder if the Krafts are just plugging their ears with all these Team Tom Brady reports that he could be gone...
- Took a look at the receivers who will/could be available via free agency and trade for the Patriots.
- One of the big names is Vikings WR Stefon Diggs, who seems to be in the middle of one of his temper tantrums that he seems to have two or three times a year.
- Does a trade for him make sense for the Patriots? Yes, absolutely. He'd be worth a first-round pick. And while he makes about $11 million a year, I don't think the Patriots need to offset that by trading back salary.
- The Patriots can simply convert most of his 2020 salary into a bonus, and then prorate it over the final three years of the contract when the Patriots don't have many commitments at this time. I figure the Patriots will do that a lot this offseason if Brady stays or not.
- If Brady leaves, Bill Belichick is going to want to load up and show that he can still win without him.
- But I don't see how a Diggs trade makes much sense to the Vikings. Diggs does this all the time, it's part of the deal with him. They still have a decent chance of going to a Super Bowl with the current group, and the cap hit from trading Diggs does not make sense for a team that is up against the cap.
- I'd say the odds are better that Diggs isn't going anywhere.
- Bruins won a slobber knocker against the Oilers last night with, who else?, David Pastrnak winning it in OT off a feed from David Krejci.
- The Bruins won but Conor Ryan says the game highlighted a glaring flaw as the trade deadline gets closer.
- Like the sound of this Red Sox Wil Myers deal.
- The TimeLord is back and making plays?
