The Red Sox, as we know, haven't made a lot of roster moves this winter. To date, they've added a grand total of six players from outside the organization to their 40-man roster: Chris Mazza, Josh Osich, Martin Perez, Kevin Plawecky, Jonathan Arauz and Jose Peraza.
That's not much turnover for a team which finished a disappointing 2019 season out of the running for the playoffs and in third place in their division.
But here's another interesting tidbit: not many of the players who qualified for free agency from last year's Red Sox teams have gone elsewhere.
Yes, Rick Porcello got himself a one-year, $10 million deal from the Mets.
But there are many more who haven't found a home:
- Brock Holt
- Mitch Moreland
- Andrew Cashner
- Steven Wright
- Steve Pearce.
