PREGAME NOTES:
- The Bruins, who are looking to snap their longest losing streak since March 2016, did not hold a morning skate on Saturday. Charlie Coyle will slot up to David Krejci's right and skate on the wing, while Sean Kuraly will take Coyle's spot as third-line center. Chris Wagner will shift over to center on the fourth line, while David Backes will replace Brett Ritchie in the lineup and skate with Wagner and Joakim Nordstrom.
- While Sergei Bobrovsky has largely struggled in net this season (.899 save percentage), the Panthers are still hovering around the playoff picture thanks to a 15-11-5 record — a testament to some of the talent that Florida regularly rolls out up front and on the blue line. Still, the Panthers have fallen into a bit of a rut, going 3-6-0 in their last nine games.
- Florida is near the bottom of the NHL when it comes to team defense, ranking 27th in the league in goals against per game at 3.26. But a Bruins’ power play stuck in a 2-for-27 drought isn’t exactly going to get much of a break on Saturday. Despite their defensive woes (most can be chalked up to Bobrovsky’s poor play), the Panthers’ penalty kill actually ranks 10th in the league with an 83.3% success rate.
- While the Panthers’ offense has been paced by the likes of Jonathan Huberdeau (37 points) and Aleksander Barkov (36 points) up front and Keith Yandle (26 points) on the blue line, Florida has also received a boost from former Bruin Brett Connolly, who is now up to 14 goals and 22 points in his first 31 games with the Panthers.
