Final: Rays 5, Red Sox 4 (11) taken at BSJ Headquarters (Red Sox)

For the second straight night, the Red Sox lost by a walkoff in the 11th inning.

Nate Lowe sliced a homer down the left field line off Josh Smith, scoring Jonathan Davis, who was pinch-running for Travis d'Arnaud. d'Arnaud had opened the inning with a leadoff double.

The Red Sox had gone ahead in the top of the 11th when Mitch Moreland hit his third homer in the series, but the lead didn't last long.

IN-GAME OBSERVATIONS:

9:58    Mi6ch Moreland strikes again. Third homer in the two games here. One put the Sox ahead, another tied it in the ninth inning Friday night and this one puts them ahead in the 11th.

8:58  The magical season of Rafael Devers continues with a two-run shot to left-center, tying the game. It also sets a record for most homers by a Red Sox third baseman, topping Butch Hobson, who hit 30 in 1979.

8:40  What a shot by Willy Adames, who connects with a Josh Taylor fastball and drives it to deepest CF.

8:08 Ryan Weber's fastball sometimes looks like his fastball wouldn't break a pane of glass, but he when he has good movement with it, he can be effective. He's retired all six hitters he's faced tonight.

7:36  Xander Bogaerts cuts the lead in half with a solo homer into the left field seats, his 32nd of the season.

7:30  For the second time in this game, Marco Hernandez gloves a ball....and then has the ball pop out of his glove. This one costs the Sox a run.

7:26  Mike Shawaryn seemed on the verge of getting out of the mess, but then plunked Matt Duffy to load the bases and now gives way to Colten Brewer.

7:04  Glasnow is still building arm strength and won't go very deep -- which has to please the Red Sox, who look overmatched, striking out seven times in the first three innings.

6:38 Tyler Glasnow looks impressive through his first two innings of work, allowing one while recording five of his six outs by strikeout.
