Some of the players who could be available around the NFL via trade or release taken at BSJ Headquarters (Patriots)

Got together with some of my fellow NFL hacks to try to figure out who might be available via trade around the league. The comments are theirs. See if there's anyone you like:

VIKINGS

WR Laquon Treadwell: It’s more than likely over in Minnesota for the Vikings’ 2016 first-round pick. Never lived up to expectations because he’s too slow to separate and can’t be trusted to make the clutch catch. The Vikings would love to trade him for even a seventh-round pick, but I expect the league knows he’s not going to make the team.

SEAHAWKS

DE Barkevious Mingo: Seattle is now using him solely as an edge rusher, though he started last year at SAM. He has a $4.1 million cap hit so everyone has thought all along he could be cut. But he’s also one of their better special teams players and that he could backup at SLB has been thought enough to keep him safe --- their other SLBs aren’t real good there. But Mingo has shown little pass rush in the preseason so it’s a hard one to read.

TE Ed Dickson: Had knee surgery a few weeks ago so that complicates things. No idea when he may be back.

DTs Earl Mitchell/Jamie Meder: Seattle has a weird DT situation with Jarran Reed suspended the first six games. They signed Mitchell to fill in for those six games after signing Meder in January. They wouldn’t need both if Reed were available to start the year but since he’s not they might both make it.

LB Shaquem Griffin: He’s been hurt all preseason and has played sparingly and is a deep LB backup. He’s been passed by Cody Barton and Austin Calitro on the depth chart. But special teams might keep him around.

BRONCOS

DE DeMarcus Walker: A second-round pick in 2017, was a healthy scratch for 13 games last year. If Broncos keep only five defensive linemen, he’s the odd man out. I would expect Elway to shop him on Friday to see if he could get a late Day 3 pick for him.

S Su’a Cravens: Has appeared in only 16 career games because of injury/poor performance. Fashions himself as a strong safety/sub-package linebacker. Problem is, Fangio doesn’t. May make team by default.

RB David Williams: Seventh-round pick last year who was cut, latched onto Jacksonville and then re-signed with Broncos early in camp. At 229 pounds, a physical runner who can also catch it a bit out of the backfield. Ran into a numbers game with Denver.

G Don Barclay: Started at right guard, filling in for Ron Leary, during first two preseason games, but since passed over for Austin Schlottmann, who can play guard and center.

WR River Cracraft: If he doesn’t win the punt return job, he’s unlikely to make the team.

RB Khalfani Muhammad: Could have value for a team as a kick returner. Small guy (5-foot-7, 174 pounds). The Broncos are set with their three tailbacks (Lindsay/Freeman/injured Riddick).

TITANS

WR Taywan Taylor. I don’t see it. Still the fastest guy in the group. One injury away from needing him. Still a third-rounder in third year. Not as if someone at another spot forces him off the roster. But maybe.

TE Ryan Hewitt. They could stick with MyCole Pruitt as the blocker -- he’s more an on-the-line guy while Hewitt is more H-back. But they beefed up RB David Fluellen so he could play some H. They may need more on-the-line with Lewan out first four weeks suspended.

CB Kenneth Durden. Semi-lanky guy who’s around the ball and can play good special teams.

S Joshua Kalu. Can also play some corner and be a very good coverage special teamer.

STEELERS

Artie Burns: The former first-round pick will start the season as the No. 1 backup on the outside. He’s had a pretty good camp/preseason, but he’s behind starters Joe Haden and Steven Nelson. Heading into the final season of his rookie deal, the Steelers could look to get something out of him in a trade.

Jerald Hawkins: A fourth-round pick in 2016, Hawkins has missed two full seasons because of injury. He’s fallen to third in the pecking order off the bench at OT behind Chuks Okorafor and Zach Banner and is unlikely to make the roster. Would somebody bite on a 25-year-old tackle? In this offensive line-starved league, maybe.

Eli Rogers/Ryan Switzer: The Steelers will probably only have room for one of these tiny slot guys. Rogers has a 50-catch season to his name, while Switzer was in the top 10 in the league in punt return average last season.

PACKERS

G Lane Taylor Three-year starter who is a solid run blocker but slipped as a pass blocker last year. Main reason is they drafted Elgton Jenkins, who has been really good and would add instant size and power to the run game.

K Sam Ficken He’s one of those guys who after bouncing around might be ready for a full-time job. Gave Mason Crosby a good run for his money. He’s got a big leg and was decent on field goals. I’d be surprised if they let Crosby go. They’d probably be facing him Week 1 if they do.

OLB Reggie Gilbert He’s one of those guys who piles up sacks in the preseason, but he was OK in a limited role last year, 2 ½ sacks, four QB knockdowns last year. Undrafted guy who has developed over two seasons, but they have a lot of bodies there and I could see them trying to get something for him.

WR J’Mon Moore Fourth-round pick last year with a lot of talent but too many drops and busted assignments. Someone might think he’s worth taking a look at.

WR Allen Lazard He’s in a close race for one of the last WR positions. He’s been really productive in camp and Aaron Rodgers raves about him. He’s 6-5 and a possession receiver but he catches everything. He’s got six catches for 114 yards and a TD. He was picked up on the practice squad last year.

DL Fadol Brown  Not a pass rusher but a solid interior player who’s smart and hustles a lot. Good locker room guy. They’re probably deciding between him and NT Tyler Lancaster, a Northwestern hustle guy who played some good snaps for them last year.

S Josh Jones A second-round pick in 2017. Just got released. Big and fast, but can’t ever learn a defense. Highly emotional and gets out of control. Could be a decent role player in the right place, but right now he’s kind of a mess.

CHIEFS

RB Carlos HydeSigned in March and looked like a part of the plan, even after Chiefs drafted Darwin Thompson from Utah State in sixth round. But Hyde hasn't stood out and Thompson has. Chiefs like Damien Williams and Darrel Williams. Hyde didn't help himself by losing a fumble in second preseason game at Pittsburgh.

DT Justin HamiltonChiefs like him and he fits nicely in 4-3 but team is deep here and they used a draft pick on Khalen Saunders.

OL Khalil McKenzieReggie's son and Raleigh's nephew played defense at UofTenn, switched to OL as rookie last year. Could be odd man out here.

REDSKINS

WR Josh Doctson: The former first-round pick has underperformed and the team declined to pick up his fifth year option. They also drafted two receivers in 2019 and one in 2018. They like the young depth at the position, so moving Doctson to open opportunities for the youngsters is a distinct possibility.

DOLPHINS

Dwayne Allen is likely to be cut despite his deep ties to the Patriots staff now in Miami.

Kiko Alonso is available in trade and could be cut.

Kenny Stills has been on the trade block and no one has shown enough interest.

WR Brice Butler is no certainty although he sticks if Stills is traded.

LIONS

S Tavon Wilson - I think he’s in, but they have about 7 safeties worthy of being on NFL rosters

S Andrew Adams - Same thing. Nose for the ball, can play special teams.

S Charles Washington - Excellent special teams player, probably makes it, but they have a UDFA Cj Moore who’s a good special teams guy, too, younger and cheaper

WR Marvin Jones - Can’t afford to cut him and probably won’t trade him right now given they have no depth but maybe they can con someone into taking him midseason if things don’t go well

OL Oday Aboushi - 4th interior OL and they have a young UDFA from Wisconsin they like.

CB Teez Tabor - 2017 second-round pick. Slow, hurt often (missed a big chunk of camp) but maybe they’ll keep him around cause of draft status. Him and Dee Virgin competing for a spot

CB/PR Jamal Agnew - Probably OK. Excellent return man, backup slot CB

PANTHERS

DT Vernon Butler: 2016 first rounder never lived up to the hype. Team already declined his fifth year option, but he’s an OK depth guy. Trimmed down significantly from past years, but has had injuries in the preseason.

WR Torrey Smith: He’s probably safe, but he already took a pay cut this spring and clearly is no better than the 5th receiver. Good locker room guy and super vocal in the community though, so I bet he sticks.

CB Kevon Seymour: Was supposed to be a starter last year, but lost his job the first week of the preseason and then spent all year on IR. He’s a decent depth CB, but could use a fresh start somewhere else.

RB Cameron Artis-Payne: More valuable on special teams than as a back. Just not that explosive, and the team has younger/cheaper/better options. If he does stick, it’s because of ST and potentially being a kick return option.

DE Efe Obada: Had his moments last year (sack, FF, INT against Cincy) but as an International Pathways player, he only just started grasping the 4-3… when suddenly the scheme switched. He can’t cover as an OLB, and it might just not be a fit anymore. Good developmental rusher.

BENGALS

Guard Christian Westerman: Westerman contemplating retirement during training camp and missed a few days. That likely hurt his chances of making the 53-man roster. He hasn’t practiced since returning to the team.

Linebacker Malik Jefferson: Jefferson has fallen deep on the depth chart. The Bengals appear ready to move forward with rookie linebackers Germaine Pratt and Deshaun Davis.

Defensive tackle Josh Tupou: Tupou’s seen his playing time and practice reps reduced. Defensive lineman Andrew Brown has flashed this preseason and rookie defensive tackle Renell Wren continues to improve in the interior.

GIANTS

ILB B.J. Goodson (an old-school thumper who has started for them in the past but doesn’t fit in their scheme and has an injury history)

OLB Kareem Martin

RB Paul Perkins (missed last year with a torn pec, has looked good at times in the summer, could get squeezed in numbers game and bc he was not brought in by current regime)

QB Alex Tanney

QB Kyle Lauletta

OLB Nate Stupar (good special teams player but gives little if anything on defense)

WR Russell Shepard (they may need to keep him around for 4 weeks until Golden Tate’s suspension ends)

TE Scott Simonson (there are some younger options on this roster for the 3rd TE job).
