Final: Red Sox 7, Angels 6 (15) taken at BSJ Headquarters (Red Sox)

After blowing a two-run lead in the ninth inning, the Red Sox rallied late to pull out a 7-6 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Mookie Betts, who led off the game with one homer, hit another with two outs in the top of the 15th to win it.

The win was the third in a row and improved their record to 5-1 on the road trip.

The Sox led 6-4 in the ninth but closer Brandon Workman walked two and allowed an opposite-field single to Albert Pujols, which was bobbled by right fielder J.D. Martinez, allowing the tying run to score.

The Sox scored four runs in the first three innings, but then managed just two hits over the next 10 innings.

IN-GAME OBSERVATIONS:

2:02   The Red Sox do not have a baserunner since the sixth inning, with the Angels bullpen retiring the last 17 hitters in a row.

1:31    Ugly, ugly inning. First, two walks to start from Workman and then a costly miscue in right field by Martinez on a line drive to right, enabling the Angels to tie the game.

12:37   Brian Goodwin homes to right-center off Matt Barnes, who has allowed seven homers in just 52 innings. Last season, he allowed just five in 61.2 innings.

12:06   Red Sox get a quick run back with a leadoff single for Bogaerts and a double down the left line by J.D. Martinez, scoring Bogaerts all the way from first.

11:58  Walden was a strike away from getting out of the jam, but Pujols drives a single up the middle scoring two. That ends Taylor's scoreless streak at 13.1 innings, as both runs are charged to him.

11:52  Taylor loads the bases, but then comes back nicely and gets two huge outs -- getting Mike Trout on a popup and then Shohei Ohtani on a fielder's choice, cutting down a run at the plate. Bases still loaded, with Marcus Walden on.

11:38  That's it for Eovaldi, who goes four innings and allows a run on three hits, fans eight. But pitch count is at 81, and Josh Taylor is on.

11:12  The strikeouts continue to pile up for Eovaldi, who fans three more -- sandwiched around a solo homer to right by Brian Goodwin.

11:02 An inviting hanging breaking ball to J.D. Martinez, who deposits it into the left field seats, scoring Betts ahead of him. That's Martinez's 14th homer in his last 34 games, who has turned on the power switch in the last month.

10:48   Impressive 1-2-3 innings by Nathan Eovaldi, with two strikeouts. Critically, he needed just 13 pitches, which is big as he labored through a 27-pitch first inning.

10:37  Brock Holt shoots four-seamer the other way to left field, scoring Sam Travis with the second run.

10:27  Andrew Benintendi, back in the lineup and in left field tonight, looked like he could have caught that blooper by Albert Pujols, but the ball drops in in front of him.

10:09 Five pitches in and Mookie Betts, getting a fat 3-and-1 fastball, drives it out on a line to left. That's 19 straight games with at least one homer for the Red Sox.
