HEADLINES
Two extra-time goals lift Orlando City to quarterfinals, knock Revs out: After playing the Revolution to a scoreless full 90 minutes, it took six minutes for the hosts to break the deadlock, and a further five to lock it up. Second-half sub Benji Michel slotted home on the rebound in the 96th minute, catching Matt Turner on his knees with no one guarding the post to put Orlando City into the lead, a goal to nil. Five minutes later, the Lions doubled the advantage as Tesho Akindele, who had clanged the woodwork in the second half, flicked a lazy ball off Andrew Farrell’s foot. With Turner going to his right, he couldn’t re-correct himself in time to go the other way for the save. Justin Rennicks then scored his first professional goal in the dying embers of the extra time session on a header off Carles Gil’s volley, and while the Revs had a few more chances in stoppage time — including a Juan Fernando Caicedo try that Adam Grinwis deflected in the last gasps — they couldn’t get it to fall.
