Kyrie Irving will get a new contract this summer after declining his player option (as expected) on Wednesday and he'll have new representation when he does so, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com. Irving parted ways with his long-time agent Jeffrey Wechsler on Wednesday and will be joining the Roc Nation agency which was founded by Jay-Z earlier in 2013.
Wechsler was Irving's agent for the duration of his career to this point and also remains the agent for Jayson Tatum. Roc Nation Sports is based in Brooklyn and reps a number of NBA players on its growing client list including Rudy Gay, Caris LeVert, Justise Winslow, Jeremy Lin and Danny Green. The agency's ties to the entertainment industry have proven to be a draw for many athletes, something that would make sense for Irving given his work on Uncle Drew.
So what exactly does this move mean when it comes to the future with Irving? It's tough to draw direct connections but the whispers surrounding the Nets and Irving should only grow based on the headquarters.
While Irving gets his plans in order, the bidding appears to be heating up on the Anthony Davis front just one week before the NBA Draft.
Davis may not want to play in Boston, but that isn't prevented the Celtics from getting actively involved in the bidding for the All-Star forward. According to a report from Zach Lowe, Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelborne at ESPN, the Celtics remain in the mix for the Pelicans big man as a top suitor along with the Lakers.
While the reports do not reference specifics in regards to what the Celtics are offering (we'll have more on that later today), a combination of assets are on the table for the Lakers including Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and the No. 4 overall pick which could be moved to a third-team for a more seasoned piece. The LA Times is also reporting Kyle Kuzma serves as a potential sticking point in the Lakers offer, in addition to that collection of assets.

The Celtics will have an opportunity to get more creative with their offers now after Aron Baynes elected to opt into his deal on Wednesday when it comes to salary matching. According to a league source, Baynes got no promises about his long-term future upon opting into his deal. The team feels very highly of him but his $5.4 million salary could be in play if the Celtics end up pulling the trigger on an AD deal.
A more thorough examination of the combination that the Celtics may be offering to come here at BSJ later today.
