Carles Gil's $2.1 million base salary the difference between 2018, 2019 salary figures for Revs taken at BSJ Headquarters (Revolution)

Major League Soccer’s Players Association has released the salary figures for the 2019 season, and the Revolution have spent nearly $9 million — $8,930,469 — in total compensation on its payroll, an increase of $2.1 million — and it can be pointed at one player.

For base salary, the Revs have spent $8.1 million, an increase of nearly $2 million from last season

Designated Player and Revs’ midfielder Carles Gil makes $2.1 million in base salary, with total compensation registering in at $2,337,500, the highest total of any New England player.

2018 midseason acquisition Michael Mancienne, who had been listed at $1.3 million, is listed in the new figures as a base salary of $881,676 with total compensation listed at $995,676.

Juan Agudelo, who made $575,000 in base salary/$602,500 total compensation in 2018, is listed as $575,000/$605,000 in 2019 after signing a new deal in December.

Wilfried Zahibo is next at $513,000/$583,000, which is a boost from last year’s $474,000/$544,000.

Cristian Penilla, whose buy clause in his 2018 loan agreement was triggered a week after the 2018 season concluded, comes in at $500,000/$550,000, which is the same amount of money he made last season. Loanee striker Juan Fernando Caicedo comes in at $500,000, $30,000 below the maximum Salary Budget Charge for 2019.

Antonio Delamea has seen his salary rise from $400,008/$400,008 in 2018 to $425,004/$425,004. Gabriel Somi made $390,999.96/$424,999.96 in 2018; he makes $391,000/$425,000 in 2019. Luis Caicedo is at $300,000 for both categories, the same amount he made in 2018.

Leominster’s Diego Fagundez is at $205,000 in total compensation for 2019, an increase of $15,000 from 2018. Braintree’s Scott Caldwell, who signed a new long-term deal earlier this season, also saw a modest pay bump ($139,375 total in 2018; $153,209 in 2019).
