8:43: End Second: Bruins still lead the Jackets, 1-0. Boston will have 48 seconds on the power play to open the third.

7:48: End First: Bruins have a 1-0 lead over the Blue Jackets. Dominant start for the B's, who very well could be up by two or three goals.

7:37: The Bruins have two shots on goal in 1:31 of shorthanded TOI. The Blue Jackets have two shots on goal with 3:49 left in the entire period.

7:34: Bruins defensemen have pinched up quite a bit already tonight to keep pucks in. So far, it's working out pretty well for them.

7:27: Coyle to the box for a hook. Bobrovsky standing on his head early on.

7:21: Bruins with a 6-0 edge in shots on goal through the first 6:30 of play.

7:20:

Don't really know how Boston hasn't scored over the last couple of minutes.

Some absurd looks early on.

PREGAME NOTES:

  • There’s plenty to digest going into this series — in terms of matchups, rest and much more. Here’s a look at 10 questions for both clubs going into the second-round series.

  • Look for Boston to try to set the tone early against a Columbus club that hasn’t played a game since all the way back on April 16. The B’s didn’t get much of a respite after bouncing the Leafs on Tuesday night, but it could benefit the club in the short term — with plenty of momentum back on their side after posting back-to-back victories over Toronto.

  • A pair of lineup changes for the Bruins — as Chris Wagner will slot in on the third line with Charlie Coyle and Marcus Johansson, while Connor Clifton will skate on Boston’s third D pairing with Matt Grzelcyk. John Moore is currently day to day with an injury, while Wagner was simply a lineup tweak — with Karson Kuhlman slated to sit out of the contest. Wagner will be looking to rebound after failing to get on the scoresheet during the Toronto series. In 18:49 of 5v5 TOI this postseason, a Grzelcyk-Clifton D pairing has generated a, 60.53 CF%, 17-8 edge in SOG and a 9-3 edge in high-danger chances. Not too bad.

  • Big thing to watch for tonight: Is the Columbus power play that ranked 28th in the NHL during the regular season with a 15.4 percent success rate going to show up? Or a power play that converted five of its 10 chances against the top-ranked Lightning PK instead?
