Welcome to first and 10, a roundup of all the (mostly) Patriots-related news you need to start your Wednesday. Grab your coffee and let’s get to it.
--Got a couple more pre-draft positional snapshots between now and Thursday afternoon, but here's a look at what we've done so far, including the offensive linemen, cornerbacks and linebackers, which we broke down Tuesday:
Receivers
Edge
Quarterbacks
Tight ends
Running backs
--We've looked at New England's history at No. 32 and 56. Today, it's No. 64. The Patriots have picked twice at No. 64 overall, most recently in 2015, when they drafted Jordan Richards. In 1992, New England selected linebacker Todd Collins out of Carson-Newman with the 64th overall pick. Some well-known players across the league who were taken at 64 include Dan Fouts and Adrian Wilson.
--Josh Gordon reportedly agreeing to ink his RFA tender is a good sign, but one step in a possible return. All reports indicate he’s doing everything he can to get back to football this year. Not sure if it’s going to work — his status for 2019 is still up in the air — but it’s not for lack of trying. If you can have him on the roster for even a portion of the season, that receiver room would certainly get a boost.
Now, on with the links…
1. Greg handles the offensive line prospects in this year’s draft who might end up appealing to the Patriots, a list that includes Oklahoma man mountain Cody Ford.
2. Bill Belichick has never drafted a cornerback taller than 6-foot-1, and only had one corner on his roster — Brandon Browner — taller than 6-foot-2. Could that change this year? I take a look at a few of the draftable possibilities, including Vandy’s JoeJuan (6-foot-4) Williams.
3. I've also got a closer look at the linebackers. It's not necessarily an immediate position of need, but there are some intriguing prospects out there, including Alabama's Mack Wilson.
4. Miguel has a look at the financial ramifications of Gordon signing his RFA tender, both for the receiver and team.
