PREGAME NOTES:
- The Bruins will look to clinch a playoff berth for the third straight season Saturday night, as Boston only needs two points to clinch a spot for the postseason. However, they can also clinch if they secure one point and the Montreal Canadiens lose to the Buffalo Sabres in any fashion on Saturday or if the Canadiens win in a shootout. So far, the Lightning, Flames and Sharks have all clinched playoff berths.
- While Torey Krug, Matt Grzelcyk, Marcus Johansson and Kevan Miller are all back with the team and skating, none are expected to return to the lineup on Saturday. Boston will also be without Sean Kuraly, who suffered a fractured hand during Thursday’s win over the Devils. He will be out for at least four weeks. With Kuraly out, Boston has recalled Karson Kuhlman from Providence — with the winger set to skate with David Krejci and Jake DeBrusk. Charlie Coyle will center a third line with Danton Heinen and Chris Wagner.
- Zdeno Chara will appear in his first game since signing a one-year, $2 million contract extension with the Bruins. For more on Chara’s new deal, click here.
- The Panthers are 5-2-0 in their last seven games and sit seven points behind Montreal for the second Wild Card spot in the East. Florida’s top-line center in Aleksander Barkov is now up to 19 points (six goals, 13 assists) in his last eight games.
