PREGAME NOTES:
After sweeping their six-game homestand, the Bruins will look to extend their point streak to 20 straight games when they take on the also-surging Penguins. Boston is in the midst of its second-longest point streak in franchise history — with the record standing at 23 games, which was achieved during the 1940-41 season.
While the Penguins might be in a Wild Card spot right now, they have posted an 8-3-2 record in their past 13 games, including a 4-1-2 record in their past seven. While injuries on the blue line will likely see Kris Letang sit for the seventh game in a row, Pittsburgh has been able to stay afloat thanks to its talent up front, with Sidney Crosby now up to 36 points in his last 26 games.
Jaroslav Halak will get the start in net for the Bruins, with the netminder looking to continue a hot stretch that has seen him go 5-0-1 with a .949 save percentage since the start of February.
