First and 10: Teams continue to make cuts as free agency looms taken at BSJ Headquarters (Patriots)

(Adam Richins/Boston Sports Journal)

Welcome to first and 10, a roundup of all the (mostly) Patriots-related news you need to start your Thursday. Grab your coffee and let’s get to it.

Going to jump right into things this morning because we have a few things cooking, including at least one new feature from me that I hope to be able to post before noon on Thursday. There's also the matter of keeping up with the recent run of releases as teams continue to get their house in order for the start of free agency next week.

--Thursday Pro Day slate: Alabama-Birmingham, Nebraska, Samford.

Now, on with the links...

1. After Mel Kiper and Daniel Jeremiah talked up the possibility of Duke's Daniel Jones to the Patriots at the end of the first round, I chatted with Duke offensive coordinator Zac Roper about Jones' strengths, weaknesses, and how he might fit in Foxborough.

2. Ex-Patriots linebacker Jamie Collins is looking for a new gig. Interested?

3. Lot of good, Patriots and Bill Belichick-related stuff in the latest Peter King podcast, where he talks with Louis Riddick and Brian Flores.

4. Mike Reiss spends some quality time with Phillip Dorsett to get his take on what might happen this offseason. "Obviously, I would love to continue (in New England), but at the end of the day, you never know," Dorsett tells Reiss. "I've never been through this process. I don't know what the future holds for me. I'm just enjoying it right now."

5. Adam Rank of NFL.com looks at five teams who should look into trading for Josh Rosen. On his list? The Patriots. "They take discarded players and turn them into superstars," Rank says of the Pariots. "It's like a boutique clothing shop in L.A. that takes items from Goodwill and then charges three times the price because they're 'vintage.' For that reason, I'm already going to pencil Rosen in as Super Bowl LVIII MVP."

6. This is a harrowing story from our pal Bob Socci about a recent medical emergency. The good news? All is well.

7. The esteemed Gil Brandt looks at the teams that have the most at stake when it comes to free agency. The Patriots make the list. "While the Pats have a couple of extra draft choices, Tom Brady's age (41) could induce New England to search more intensely for veteran help," writes Brandt. "This team has also been known to take one-year fliers. Could we see someone like Ndamukong Suh or (if he's released by Dallas) Sean Lee signing on to try to make another run at a Super Bowl ring?"

8. Gregg Rosenthal and Chris Wesseling have an updated version of their top 100 free agents. Trey Flowers is No. 3.

9. Dwayne Allen is making the rounds.

10. Anyone else struck by the fact Flowers says "We want seven" in this clip? We.
