PREGAME NOTES:
- Boston will look to extend its point streak to 17 games against one of the top surprises in the league in the Hurricanes, who currently sit in third place in the Metropolitan Division and have won six games in a row.
- The Hurricanes will don Hartford Whalers throwback sweaters for tonight’s game at TD Garden, while the Bruins will opt for their road whites for the matchup. The Whalers/Hurricanes defeated the B’s in their last meeting, 5-3, on Dec. 23 — a matchup that stood as Tuukka Rask’s last loss in regulation. Jaroslav Halak will get the nod in net Tuesday, however, with the goalie looking to make it five wins in a row.
- Look for the Cehlarik-Coyle-Backes line to get another look on Tuesday, even if Cehlarik was benched for the third period of Saturday’s win over the Devils. More on Coyle’s impact on that line here.
- The Hurricanes are a very different animal from what Boston dealt with in the Devils, as Carolina loves to pepper the net with a league-leading average of 34.8 shots on goal per game.
