- Something’s got to give in this matchup, with Thursday’s bout standing as the first time in NHL history in which a pair of teams with simultaneous point streaks of at least 14 games will meet in a head-to-head tilt. While Boston has not dropped a game in regulation since Jan. 19, the Lightning have won 10 games in a row and hold a 19-point lead over the Bruins in the Atlantic Division.
- Tampa Bay can become just the fourth team in NHL history to go without a regulation loss in two calendar months during one season — a mark that only the 1940-41 Bruins, the 1944-45 Montreal Canadiens and 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers have achieved. If Boston extends its point streak to 15 games, it will be the ninth time in franchise history that the Bruins have wrapped up a calendar month without a regulation loss, and its first since November 2011.
- No major changes for the Bruins’ lineup, with Joakim Nordstrom remaining on the third line with Charlie Coyle and David Backes, while Noel Acciari will don a shield and center the fourth line. Acciari took a puck to the face on Tuesday against the Sharks and had to undergo some dental repairs on Wednesday.
