- Boston will be a bit shorthanded up front against a stout San Jose defense, as Peter Cehlarik will sit out the contest due to a lower-body injury that he suffered during Saturday’s win over the Kings. With Cehlarik out, newcomer Karson Kuhlman will get a promotion up to the second line with David Krejci and Jake DeBrusk. While he didn’t show too much in the offensive zone during his NHL debut on Saturday, Kuhlman certainly has wheels, which should benefit him on a line with DeBrusk skating at the other wing position.
- Tuukka Rask will get the call in net once again after an impressive showing against the Kings, headlined by a few highlight-reel stops. Rask is now 11-0-2 in his last 14 outings this season.
- With a win, Boston will extend its win streak to a season-long six games, while pushing their overall point streak to 11 consecutive games.
- Even with an aging core, the Sharks have continued to roll as one of the top teams in the West, winning seven of their last eight games — while allowing two goals or less in six of their last seven appearances.
- San Jose rolls out one of the top defensive pairs in the league in Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson. Burns leads the Sharks in scoring with 64 points over 59 games, while the Sharks’ top offseason addition in Karlsson has added 44 points over 48 games.
- The Sharks don’t just generate their offense from the blue line, as the club features five 20-goal scorers up front in Joe Pavelski, Evander Kane, Tomas Hertl, Logan Couture and Timo Meier.
